What measures should be taken to improve student engagement in the classroom?

Student engagement (also referred to as "motivated learning") is an essential element to success in the classroom. A lack of engagement results in reduced creativity, diminished enthusiasm, and slower cognitive development. As such, it is important to create an environment in which students are actively engaged and encouraged to participate. Here are a few ideas on how teachers can improve student engagement in the classroom:

1. Create Flexible Learning Structures: Offer students multiple ways in which they can learn the material, allowing them to find the approaches that best suit their individual learning styles. This could include activities such as simulations, role-playing, or debates. Encouraging students to move around the classroom or have the freedom to choose their own seating makes this approach easier to manage and enables greater focus on engaging activities and participation from all students.

2. Build a Supportive Environment: Establish a climate that encourages collaboration, respect for different perspectives and opinions, and healthy competition — these are essential for motivating student engagement because it creates an atmosphere where questions can be asked and answered without fear of judgement or criticism.

3. Use Technology: Utilize technology in the classroom like digital whiteboards, educational video conferencing tools, smartphones or tablets for in-class polls and quizzes. These tools allow teachers to be creative while encouraging involvement from students who may not always feel comfortable speaking up during class discussions.

4.Give Students Autonomy: Educational reforms across many countries emphasize teaching children problem-solving skills so that they may become adaptive learners who think creatively and with initiative. To do this effectively we need to provide our students with greater autonomy over their learning by offering flexible opportunities like project-based learning or adjusting curriculum so that each student has an individualized path for success within their studies
